Real Catholic Beauty, finding God in the chaos

by Rita Davidson

Life is chaos isn’t it? If you have many little kids under your feet, you are running from dishes, to meals, to activities and wiping running noses, doorbells, tripping on toys, dirty diapers and laundry. Sound about right? 🙂 With our 7 kids this is pretty much what my life looked like, on top of our home business, and my writing.

As our children have gotten older, things have changed a little and I miss those busy days, even though I still have 4 boys at home, including a BUSY 5 year old. 🙂

Once our children get a little older, we look back and realize it all passed SO fast, like a dream. Wasn’t it? I mean just where did the time go? We were so busy DOING we forgot about BEING.

We are all desperate to find God in the chaos of our lives. I see women, in particular, struggling to find the straight and narrow path while raising families in today’s Godless world.

As I edit, a new edition of “Immodesty, Satan’s Virtue” I’ve been pondering beauty a lot. With my background in “beauty” as ‘the world sees it’; namely Hairdressing and being a Make up Pro, there is a BIG gap I see here.

  • I see mothers struggling to be MODEST, yet losing their kids to the WORLD.
  • I see mothers suffering to hold things TOGETHER, when the world is threatening to pull things APART.
  • I see women sacrificing BEAUTY in hopes of keeping in God’s graces and losing THEMSELVES in the process.

Welcome to my world. A calling that has been on my heart and mind for so long. I have a PASSION to help women feel alive again. I have a passion to help weary women LOVE God again. I have a passion to help women embrace their Real Catholic beauty. So, I’ve decided to pull together my beauty background and my faith, and dedicate Monday’s to challenging your Real Catholic Beauty.

Today I’m looking at dishes. Those mundane tasks we do each day. Rather than just DOING the dishes, FIND God in those dishes. MEDITATE on how Our Lady took care of the dishes of the Holy Family. How she took such care to make sure meals and dishes were done as PERFECT as she could. Don’t go looking elsewhere for God, find Him right there where you work. HE is waiting for you there.

My gift to your dry parched hands and soul. Here is my favorite Hand Scrub I keep at my sink all the time.  It will refresh your hands and your soul. 🙂 Make it and enjoy soft hands to caress those babies and heavenly smells to reward you for finding God in the chaos.

St. Martha’s Dishpan hand Scrub

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 10 drops Vitamin E oil

Mix all the liquid ingredients in a metal or glass bowl.

Once mixed, then add your essential oils. You want to thoroughly mix oil-with-oil. These are a few that I have used:

  • 6 drops Frankincense
  • 5 drops Lemon (instant pick-me-up)
  • Lavender (would be really nice and relaxing!)

Research your favorite blends HERE.

Mix well.

Then add:

  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup sea salt

You can add more or less salt/sugar if you like it thicker or more runny. If you desire more smell, you can add more essential oils as well. Store in a wide mouth jar near your sink for daily use. Even Mark admits how much he loves this when his hands get dry!

To use: Scoop up a teaspoon or so in your palm and rub all over wet hands, top and bottom, up to wrists (or elbows if you need a good elbow scrub). LOL

Then rinse off the crystals but not ALL the oil. That’s it!

If your not sure where to get pure essential oils, I only use Young Living Brand after I broke out in a rash from using one from my natural food store. You can join me HERE to get 24% off.

At first it will feel a little oily, but fight the urge to wipe it all off. In a few minutes it will be dry and soak in and your hands have never felt so smooth! And for nearly pennies! 🙂 Now remember to BREATHE in DEEPLY, those oils are relaxing and can help your day get back on track.

Dishes anyone?

Don’t forget to join me here each Monday as I begin a new series exploring your Real Catholic Beauty with tips, advice and more all designed to challenge you to go from weary mom to the beautiful saint God is calling you to be. Invite your friends, let’s get this conversation started…it’s LONG overdue. What is #RealCatholicBeauty to you? POST below.

With love,

Rita 🙂
