St Therese knew how beneficial suffering was. She perfected her Little Way in becoming so small in the world’s eyes, but so large in God’s eyes. Yes, she carried heavy crosses too. Her crosses became the smallest things she could find that God would send in her life and instead of fighting them, she accepted them from God’s own hands.

“Suffering is the money by which we buy heaven” she said. WOW! How true this is! But oh if we would only understand this when the car needs a repair, our children get sick, we lose a job, or when a loved one passes away. Isn’t it strange that we are so strong when talking about suffering, but when a cross arrives on our doorstop we get faint and weak at the knees and wonder how will we ever deal with this?
