Happy November !!!
I began this post a few days ago now…. as you might see I’ve been having some trouble on my blog. I’ve been doing some housekeeping around there too, so you should see some changes there. Let me know what you like and don’t like when you do?!
The Month of the Holy Souls has begun – it was my mother who taught me devotion to the Holy souls.
In her later years she sacrificed every comfort for them. She sat in the dark, kept her heat on low to save money. But she offered it all for the Holy Souls. None of her sacrifices were done with crankiness or self pity. It was all bigger purpose than her and she was glad to offer it up. She never knew what it was to be depressed. Always saying, “How can you be depressed?” She was blessed with a happy disposition and even now with her dementia and loss of language and mobility. She spends much of her day laughing at us. Its so sweet…
Now that I’m taking care of her, I am so glad I have these vivid memories of her devotion to the holy souls.
One of my favorite places is a Catholic graveyard…
I was so thankful to find myself at this graveyard on the 1st of November. Not always am I so lucky to get there so soon.
“O Lord Jesus, by the merits of the sorrows of Thy Virgin Mother, release from Purgatory the soul that is dearest to Thee. Place it today in Heaven, that in union with the angels and Thy Blessed Mother it may forever praise Thee.”
Do you pray for the Holy Souls? Where did you learn about the Holy Souls?
What is your favorite devotion for the Holy Souls? Please share it below so we all can pray for them.
With MUCH love,
Rita xxo
