HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE?
by Rita Davidson
I was picking up my mail the other day and I was reminded of this question, “how long do you have”?
Our mail is across our road, on a BUSY and FAST highway. Mark often picks up the mail for me, but today on my walk I thought I’d pick it up myself. After checking both directions I crossed the road and got the mail. Then stopped to check both directions again before returning.
Suddenly a white truck came from behind another car, on a double line, FULL speed, passing into the oncoming traffic lane, right in front of ME standing on the side of the road.
In an instant, it had whizzed by me – I just felt the wind.
My thoughts ran, why would someone pass on a double line?
Why go so fast when someone is on the side of the road and NOT looking in your direction?
Society today is becoming less and less concerned for their fellow man. As I walked up our lane I absentmindedly thanked Jesus, the Blessed Mother and my Guardian Angel automatically. The more I thought about it, I realized it just was another indication that it wasn’t MY time yet.
I’m a bit ‘dull headed’ at times and so it takes TIME for this stuff to ‘sink in’. After I came back I told Mark and he reminded me how to be careful. But inside he too was shocked.
We take SO much time to SAVE our lives that it is a stark reminder really that God that is the author of life and death.
That might lead people to thinking well, we don’t have to do ANYTHING to take care of our health or body or anything since it all doesn’t matter. But God hasn’t made our life THAT easy either. Our bodies are His temple and when we LOVE God with all our hearts we are an example to everyone we know.
How can we know if our lives will touch someone today, or tomorrow? We can’t waste 80 years of our life waiting for death, and passing by all the souls that will be inspired by us today.
Instead, while taking care of our bodies the temple of the Holy Ghost, He wants us to ABANDON ourselves into His arms, knowing that He will decide the time for our end. I’m so thankful the other day was not MY time yet.
Are you prepared today for your end? Are you really sure you are ready to meet your God who made you? You might have another 40 years and you might have 5 and you might have only today.
Don’t be too sure God will give you time to repent later, if you don’t take the time to do so now. He has not promised us tomorrow. So be sure to know, love, and serve God TODAY, while you still can.
With love,
Rita xo
