How to be Modest and in Style, for Fall –  photo Journey #3

By Rita Davidson

Fall brings such lovely colors, different smells and, for some of us, cooler temperatures. aaahhhh

There seems to be a real pull against bright summer colors, and a pull towards richer tones for fall that match the season.

Many of you told me you have trouble, staying the course with modesty?  I haven’t done a Photo Journey since before our fire. But I figured you all needed to see some ideas! I hope my Photo Journey helps you find your style to make it work!

DAY 1: My fall scarves! Oh how I’ve MISSED them! It suddenly got VERY cold here FAST. So out came the fall clothes! Here is a brown fake suede skirt and a part wool sweater I took from Mark. Heehee he didn’t mind thankfully, he said he didn’t like it! 🙂

2014-09-16 13.25.05-2DAY 2: Who says, you can’t be COZY AND MODEST? Here I am curled up on the couch editing my book, “Immodesty, Satan’s Virtue” (I’m up to Chapter 4 now!!!) I posted this on my Facebook page, and got so many comments how cozy I looked even Mark said I was so cozy looking! LOL HINT: Wear wide skirts so you can curl up with them on the couch! 🙂

2014-09-17 12.17.05DAY 3: Here is Liam my sidekick with me when I got the mail and a donation that came from Deborah! (“Hi Deborah!”) See what kids can do? Yanking and pulling on our clothes? Well I survived this time! Here is a lime green shirt and new brown, denim skirt I got last year. HINT: Be prepared for anything with kids around. 🙂

2014-09-19 11.47.14DAY 4: A cozy, black velvet skirt from Coldwater Creek, I got for $5 and a new sweater I got last year from Sears. That grass behind me is right where our house used to be. *Sigh yes, a reminder everyday.

2014-09-15 14.27.30DAY 5: Here I am in denial,  trying to be warm with my coffee at my ‘outdoor’ office. Haha…Brown skirt with sweater from Mark and my scarf. oh where art thou summer? 🙂

2014-09-15 13.54.01Then look who STOLE my tall socks?? LOL Liam, always bringing some joy to my day. 🙂

2014-09-19 11.50.33DAY 6: My black velvet skirt again, with a burst of orange color in my scarf! It was started to warm up again from the deep freeze we had. Jacket and shirt were free from somewhere (that’s what you get after a fire, living in crisis mode.) 🙂 See that bit of stone behind me? That is what USED to be our basement. That’s all that’s left.

2014-09-21 15.27.22DAY 7: We finally warmed up here, so I tried some lighter colors. (Fall comes too soon and then we have snow!) Used Denim skirt $7, with a donated shirt, plus cute scarf to add a bit of bling. 🙂 This is me and my trusty laptop on my way out! 🙂

And that was my week! Now what success have YOU had with modest dressing? Are you still STUCK? Share with me your struggles and I’ll see if I can’t solve some of it for you!

With love,

Rita Xo 🙂

I LOVE fake suede skirts. They hang so pretty, look classy, and are easy to take care of!
