Humility is for us all, God planned it so
By Rita Davidson
Pride was the sin that made the first angels fall. It was their disobedience at the beginning that created hell.
It is the one sin that plagues us all from time began.
Pride is an ugly sin. It is puffed up, proud. We wrestle with it from early in our life until we breathe our last breath. If we are lucky enough, to shed enough of it, to enter that narrow gate to heaven.
But, God died for all of us. He looked out from the cross and with a heart full of love, and tears in His eyes, He knew what each of us would do (shudder) and what medicine each of us would need to save us from the brink.
If you live in the more civilized parts of the world (where we are afraid of dirt and kill our young, yeah, civilized. That’s a blog post for another day) think about the people you see regularly.
I was having a follow up appointment with my accountant after our fire. At this meeting he delivered the news that LFFA isn’t worth continuing “it doesn’t make money”, I thought (wow, didn’t I know this was a labor of love?) LOL 🙂
But then I realized I was humiliated thinking, wow, this guy really knows what I’m worth. After our fire, that isn’t much of anything!
Then there was my hairdresser appointment. I thought, she knows if you have dandruff, or your hair is falling out and really knows the color of your roots! Haha!
Another day I thought about my bank teller, they know how much you have left in your bank account. That can be pretty sobering. *sigh
What about the doctor, who we have those embarrassing appointments with, and gives us the worst life and death prognosis sometimes. *eek
What about the dentist; who knows how much you really brush and how bad your breath really is.
Or your taxes. The Tax man really takes you for all your worth and more.
Lastly, but never least, the priest, who sees us as God sees us.
If we go to all these regular appointments, do we really have any reason to be proud? Oh my, aren’t you already embarrassed just thinking of these visits! LOL
You would think of that arrogant person you know with pride dripping from them is likely neglecting some of their everyday visits wouldn’t you? Maybe a good reminder, “have you been to the doctor recently?” might be a kind way of letting reality hit them.
So next time your whining about that dentist appointment, remind yourself, in God’s wonderful way of planning, this is His way of taking care of you, and your soul. So, following God’s will is never a bad idea. Now make that doctor appointment now won’t you? 🙂
With love,
Rita Xo 🙂
