Little Miracles Do Happen!

by Rita Davidson

It would not be the first time God has surprised us with a little miracle of His own. So, when we discovered a lizard living in the back of our van, (In Canada!) we were excited.

Our son, August who was 11, had been praying for a lizard for nearly a year. With the cost and upkeep of them, we decided against getting one earlier. So, when we found this one hiding out on us we quickly caught it in a pail and started to research what it was.

Come to find out it was a lizard not at all, native to Canada. In fact, it is more native to Florida! So, we knew this to be a special lizard indeed!

We found out it was an Anolis, a small lizard and we found it a free used fish tank and got it outfitted for very little. Just in our price range too!

About a week after we had it, we found a little white tic-tac in her cage. Hmm? What was that, we thought?

After a little research we confirmed it to be an egg! whoa, how could this be?!

We carefully took care of it and removed it from the cage and waited. Every day we waited to see if something would happen or if it would be just a disappointment.

Then after a month, August, brought it to me, saying it looked wierd. It did indeed. It was all shrunken and I thought perhaps whatever it was died. Oh poor thing I thought.

So I began to poke around it to see if I could discover what happened and whooooSH! Out poked the little lizard! We screamed! It scared and delighted us all at the same time. It was the size of a dime! So perfect and small, and fast!

We safely put it in another cage and it grew well. What started out to be a prayer, God fulfilled in better ways then we could have imagined.

First, giving us a surprise lizard not even native to Canada.

Then, giving us the joy of watching another one born and have two.

And all for the cost of about $2.00 to start!

Just when you think your prayers aren’t answered, God will answer them.  After this prayer showed our son how God truly listens, he wanted to pray for a dog! So do not ever give up hope. God knows our needs and our desires so much better than we do. He will never stop listening to our prayers. But like a patient Father, that He is, He will wait for the right opportunity and time, to surprise us with His version of what we need.

(Yes, that was our little baby lizard picture at the top of this post.)
