Modesty is NOT a religion
By Rita Davidson
WOW, I was like SO AMAZED at all the comments on my last post. The FIRST time wearing pants in 6570 days! Ha-ha that really got everyone talking! THANK YOU for taking the time to give me your thoughts. That is exactly what I want to hear from you all. I mean what am I even writing up these posts for if they are just putting you all to sleep? 🙂
For those that missed the excitement, you can see my last post HERE
Let me start out by saying that the Church is suffering today, crumbling. I’ll be writing more on this in future. But for today, my heart just breaks to see the destruction that I feel so deep in my heart is all around us.
I heard from my Editor Sunday and she returned my book files back to me – YAY! So now the real work begins! Praise God, I can FINALLY finish “Immodesty, Satan’s Virtue” for you. Surprisingly my Editor wrote,
“This is something women today need desperately to hear and hopefully apply. “
I couldn’t agree more. But how do we reach them? How are we going to INTEREST women in modesty when we cannot see the forest for the trees? I mean we are CATHOLIC first, and modest SECOND, not the other way around.
When we go around seeing sin everywhere and being scandalized by every woman in a pair of pants have we really grown up? (Men I’m NOT talking to you). We don’t live in their shoes; we don’t carry their crosses. We don’t practice modesty by losing our charity (or common sense)!
I had people UNSUBSCRIBE from my last post. What is WRONG with people? Seriously, when seeing ANOTHER WOMAN in a pair of pants scandalizes a WOMAN, we have more work to do than I first thought.
We have all grown up during a time when the Church is in disarray. There is so much immodesty in the world that we have pulled back to escape it and some of us went too far. We are so desperate to save our families from impurities we are risking pushing them right into what we are trying to prevent.
The Faith is not meant to be stiff and rigid. We don’t live by the letter of the law, we live by it’s spirit…and I’m not talking some woo-woo spirit, but the SAME spirit that animated the saints that came before us. It is a living and breathing Faith that adapts to the times WITHOUT CHANGING but that doesn’t mean we become statues!
Those of us that wish to see the Church restored have to start looking into ourselves. What have we NOT done in our own life to fulfill God’s will?
What MORE can we do to help appease the anger of the heavenly Father upon our world? We can’t wrap our comfy skirts around us feeling that it gives us the right to point at everyone else in pants. We’ve hidden a big LOG in there.
When I wrote my book, “Immodesty, Satan’s Virtue” in 1999 I had NO idea this topic would become what it has today. I’m still catching my breath actually. I still stand behind everything I said back then. (No worries I haven’t gone liberal!) But there is much that I have discovered that I did not know back then.
And this isn’t MY message, this isn’t MY opinion; this is the TEACHING of the CHURCH that I am researching and passing along. People don’t do us any favors by making “Modesty their religion”. We know plenty of other religions that do that. We are FIRST CATHOLIC and SECOND MODEST and never forget that.
When I put on those pants for my Ttapp Challenge and made it public I did it for a few reasons:
- So others would be encouraged and realize they too can leave their pants at the store.
- So, I could break my own “modesty is my religion” that could be keeping me blind too. Heaven’s I haven’t found all MY LOGS.
- Because I have spent 18 years of my life DEDICATED to bringing you this message, I wasn’t about to make my FIRST choice of pants hidden like it was a great secret. I try to be honest with everyone. That’s why I share my modest outfits, my never-ending scarf collection, my modest fashion tips, cause I really LIVE this lifestyle. I didn’t choose to become the role model for this message, it picked me. But I’m not perfect and I’ve always been embarrassed by my own weight so I knew my pride needed this.
I have been VERY lucky. I don’t have a weakness towards pants, nor do I feel the need to wear them for anything. I don’t even wear pajama pants! I’m serious. But how can I help others if I don’t walk once in their shoes?
I’ve struggled with my weight and my leg pain for many years and it scares me to think that I would not take the lifeboat that God is sending me to take care of myself so I can be here for my family for as long as He lets me.
So for those offended by my picture, I’m sorry, I told you it wasn’t pretty.
For the rest of you holding onto your pants like they are the best things since sliced cheese… 🙂
God is patient but He won’t wait forever. Modesty is a requirement of the Church because it is one of its virtues. Without it our hearts are hardened and blinded by the impurity in the world today. Remember in my last post, I said I felt NAKED in my pants…you should NOT feel comfortable in pants. Only the devil would like you to feel comfortable…Our Lady of Fatima came all the way from heaven to bring us this message when she said, “the most souls that fall to hell are from sins of the flesh.”
What has happened since 1917?
An EXPLOSION of IMMODESTY!
Jesus is writhing in agony over the indifference in the world today. The indifference of women who think modesty is NOT their problem.
Ladies you and I can make a difference today. By our sacrifice we can help rebuild this crumbling Church.
By our Real Catholic Modesty we can show the world our faith and love for God.
By our Real Catholic Modesty we show God our obedience.
By our Real Catholic Modesty we can offer up the PENANCE that Our Lady at Fatima said was SO needed to save souls from falling into hell. It’s so simple, yet it is SO hard isn’t it?
My heart is SO FULL with this message I can barely contain it within myself. I am so humbled by all God has revealed to me in my new research and how He saved this book from the ashes of our devastating fire. Just one look at those flames and it’s hard to imagine how this paperback book could have survived but it has. God has a message in there for you. I am just the messenger, and I can’t wait to share more with you.

With much, MUCH love,
Rita Xo 🙂
