The END of my Peonies
By Rita Davidson
They didn’t come to a “natural” end as you might imagine. This came when they were in FULL peak. Liam decided it was time to “TEST” out his ‘wood sword’.
If you remember, these were a beloved memory for me from my childhood and our home before our fire. You can imagine how I GASPED! How could Liam cause such destruction in 5 minutes and Why?
Well he IS 5 years old and I figure a little impulsive. (It LOOKED FUN) So after giving him some examples how this CAN’T be fixed, I only hoped to make an impression.
Then a thought came to me; SIN. These fallen petals are like our SINS. Sure none of us are murderers ( or are you!?) 😉 no we didn’t embezzle a million dollars (if you did can I be your friend?) (just KIDDING!) But many of us don’t think twice about fudging our income taxes (it’s SO hard to make ends meet). Or wearing that skirt that’s a little TOO TIGHT (well it will be ok TODAY).
What about that story you told your friend that you were sick so could SKIP her party (when you weren’t sick at all). Lastly what about that online purchase you SHARED even though it is copyrighted, (well your friend said she was really broke and this might help her)!
Yes all those SINS are like those scattered petals on the ground. We can’t SEE them but they are there. We are destroying the life of Christ in the CHURCH with our small invisible SINS.
And there is an INVISIBLE mess being made that WE haven’t cleaned up. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING AT BIG sins. But it is these little sins (venial) that are more prevalent than any others. Why? Because they are so small we never get caught. It is just between us and God and well, He won’t tell on us will He?
But GOD can’t clean up that mess we made. You see He died on the cross for our sins so we can be wiped clean in confession, but even AFTER confession, we need penance. PENANCE is for the damage we leave behind from our sins.
I can’t put these petals back on the flower. And even after confession there is still penance owing to clean up our “petal mess”. Now how about all those others in the world who know NOTHING about SIN? Who will pay to clean up THEIR petals? Someone must pay the price for their SINS (mess) or they won’t get to HEAVEN! #thisworldneedsmorepenance This is why Our Lady said to PRAY AND SACRIFICE for sinners.
Now you can understand the importance of this request and I pray you always see “fallen petals” this way so you will pray and sacrifice for sinners too. Thank you Liam for the lesson you taught me today as sad as it was for me may it inspire many souls to pray for poor sinners as Our Lady asked at Fatima.
With love,
Rita Xo 😉
