Whose side are you on?

It is a curious thing isn’t it? When we were kids, we might have asked in the schoolyard, “whose side are you on?” We are supposed to be a Church of Unity, yet one of the missing ingredients today is UNITY.

The Catechism teaches us we shall know the Church by Four Marks One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic

When Christ instituted the Church He gave it Four Marks so we could always recognize the Church in the world, which has only increasingly gotten noiser. Wouldn’t you say?

Today I want to look at the First Mark; ONE.

ONE what does “ONE” mean? When a man and woman get married those TWO become “ONE”, right? They are united as one soul under God. So this Mark of the Church means unity, that we will all profess the same faith, have the same sacrifice and are united under one head, the Catholic Church throughout the world.

But one of the first questions you might get today is who do you belong too ? Are you SSPX, FSSP, CRMI, DIOCESE, SSPV, INDEPENDENT or?

When we traveled anytime before 1950, it didn’t matter if we landed in Argentina, or Mexico or England, the Mass was in Latin and all we needed was our headcovering (for women) and our missal. But we always felt right at home there halfway across the world. A place of expected solace, safety and solitude.

Today when we travel to a different town or country we cannot easily find the same faith and sacrifice the Church was once known for. We often have to bypass the local Church and depending on your affiliation, find your affiliation of the faith.

Contrast that today with Walmart. Have you ever traveled to a different town or country and went to a Walmart to pick up something and found the aisles and everything in pretty much the same place? Curious most large box stores are like this.

Compare the ease that you visit McDonalds from one town to another, or one Walmart to another and so on. Think of other Box stores, like Target maybe (our Canadian Targets’ closed up not long after I found them. I’d like to think I scared them off. Haha!)

This consistency helps visitors find what they need quicker by not having to ask for help. They can then have less staff, (for yes greater profits). The same layout also gives the business it’s familiar brand feel. Let’s look at Walmart’s BRAND.

It has a telltale “blue”. Hex: #007dc6 (1)

It has a memorable motto, “Save money, live better”.

Does this BRAND change from Florida to New York? Or from Oregon to California? (or New York to even say Ottawa, Ontario, Canada?) I bet overall it doesn’t change much does it?

What is wrong with this picture?

Truth has now been inverted. Corporations have now taken on the “Unity” that was once a Mark of the Catholic Church. Does this shock you? It really shouldn’t. As our faith shed more and more of it’s traditions it only makes sense the world would become a mockery of what the Church once had.

This is more a tragedy than we can ever know. How so many souls are lost by not being taught the truth? How God must weep.

Today more than ever you must take a stand for your faith. Whose side are you on? You must take the side of Christ.

MAKE the time to GROW in your faith and LEARN what your faith really offers for you to save your soul.

Don’t be taken in by all the politics in the Church today. They are only the devils way of distracting you from the important work you have on your own soul.

Begin practicing charity first to everyone in your own family, then to everyone you meet. That means smiling when your heart is sorrowing and not waiting for pity from someone for your sorrows.

Remove from your eye the log that makes you judge everyone as less than you. We are all equals on this journey to heaven my friends. When you and I stand in front of God Almighty we will have nothing to hide there.

We will have no sides to take there except did we LOVE ENOUGH.

As the world tries to make a mockery of what was once the Marks of our Catholic Faith, let us not give up hope. Let us cultivate a soul fitting for Christ’s visit.

NOW is the time for us to GROW in LOVE. For LOVE covers a multitude of sins.

At the end we will only be judged by our love.

“Prayer is an ACT of Love, words are not needed. Even if sickness distracts from thoughts, all that is needed is the WILL to LOVE.” Teresa of Avila

With love,
