Why your Commitment to Modesty may soon End
by Rita Davidson
What is modesty? The dictionary on my Apple computer says,
- “the quality or state of being unassuming or moderate in estimation of one’s abilities.
- The quality of being relatively moderate, limited, or small in amount, rate or level.
- Or
- Behavior, manner, appearance intended to avoid impropriety or indecency.”
Which of these statements are true for you? Are you only concerned with appearing moderate with your opinions and abilities?
OR are you concerned about your behavior, manner and appearance? It is this last statement that often grabs the Catholic and opens their eyes to the importance of dressing modestly.
God seems to be drawing Catholic women to this treasure. They come from all walks of life it seems. Some ladies are single and young and searching how this applies to them.
Others are married and have young children and are frightened for the world we live in and their future.
Some are grandmothers, having seen the changes in the last 40+ years and stunned where it all went wrong when they see their grandchildren.
But where are you in all this?
You see, when we first discover this JEWEL about modesty we go FULL FORCE! It only takes a blog post here, a pamphlet there, a article there. WHAM! We start wearing dresses, try sewing skirts, we get rid of immodest clothes in our closet and are AWEstruck those first few weeks relearning how modesty will change our life.
As time goes on, we see ‘Jeannie’ from Church on Sunday and realize, suddenly, how SHORT her skirt is. Suddenly your SHOCKED how she could let her daughters wear those TUBE TOPS during Mass.
Then you go to the grocery store and during the checkout line your eyes are riveted with the nakedness of the magazines. You might have young children with you and now suddenly you are trying to find a way to put them ahead of your cart to get them away from that view. You get home exhausted from the fuss and a little confused about it all.
After a few weeks of this, or a few months (depending on who you are), you CAVE IN. For the 1000th time your friend made fun of your skirt at the kids playgroup. You already feel awful, as that morning you had put on your ONLY skirt that had JAM on it because your kids were sick and you didn’t wash it on time. You had NO make up on, since you don’t care for it anymore, but today you look and feel really awful with morning sickness cause you just found out your expecting and so are looking pretty grey.
You cry ALL the way home because you not only feel horrible but your friend was RIGHT. She just confirmed it for you by making fun of you again. You say, “What is the POINT of dressing like this?” And so back to your yoga pants you go.
Is this you? How did you go from that on-fire mom for modesty to that worn-out mom who just gave up the battle?
What happened here? The battle lines have changed. You simply were NOT prepared for the battle.
Modesty is a virtue SO valuable, SO highly prized by heaven that ALL HELL will be let loose against you when you begin this journey. I know since I made this commitment back in 1998 and it’s been uphill ever since.
When I first wrote my book in 1999 Catholic women were THIRSTY for this message. They couldn’t wait to DEVOUR everything they could get their hands on. But in their fervor to know EVERYTHING they could know about this, they set up their foundation for a fall.
In their early excitement and zeal they set up their life for failure making modesty an impossible feat.
Now 16 years later, I am working on this book to change everything. The stakes are even higher now. The message has been diluted, twisted and made fun of. Satan has added confusion to this message to distract souls from it.
What do you need to prepare for this battle? You’ll have to read my book, “Immodesty, Satan’s Virtue” to find out. Grab one HERE.
But the first thing I will tell you that you need is your daily rosary.
Without a commitment to Our Lady you will never stay committed to this journey. It is SHE who will crush the devil’s head and it is SHE you will need on your side.
This is not a battle for the faint-hearted, but for hearts WANTING to SERVE their KING. It is for those precious souls wanting to be SAINTS. It is for those souls in love with their QUEEN.
So what are you waiting for?
With love,
Rita Xo 🙂
