LFFA Marian Series, Part 1
On this feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I thought it fitting to share some lovely quotes for Our Lady. No more needs to be said from me. But let us keep her in mind, as we go about our day and give her honor on this special day. Thank her for all the blessings you have today. Thank her for her loving care. Thank her for saying Yes to God and giving us our Savior and Lord!
"St. Edmund of Canterbury, when a boy of twelve at Oxford, with the consent of his confessor, resolved to make a vow of perpetual chastity.
He went to the church and uttered this promise aloud before the statue of Our Lady, and then placed on its finger a ring which he had bought for the purpose.
"And with this ring I choose thee as My Lady and spouse, that I may serve thee with more devotion in the future."
Then he knelt and prayed with tears:
"O my Lady, most sweet spouse of my heart, pray to thy Son that I may follow in the footsteps of St. John."
Then, lest the ring on the statue should attract notice, he tried to take it from the finger, but found it impossible to do so, and there it long remained and was seen ‘by the whole University’.
Quite apart from the vows of chastity, praying to Our Lady is one of the surest helps for everybody against temptation.
Let us have recourse to her at all times!"
